Photojournalist Stacey Willis is working on a story that could change her career, when she stumbles upon the story that will change her life.  Through a twist of fate, she becomes enmeshed in the lives of the people of tiny Grouse Creek as secrets of the past begin to unravel.
A half century ago there was a murder.  But it's difficult for Stacey to believe that aging rancher Herman Anders could be the killer.  At least not the compassionate Herman she knows.  But can she trust her instincts?  Can she trust her boyfriend, Dave?  Her engaging new friend, Sam?
Although Stacy's believing nature always leads her to interesting people, it sometimes leads to disaster in this story where first impressions are often wrong, and the bonds of trust and betrayal are equally strong.
A tapestry of romance and intrigue that explores the true costs of secrets held for decades, A Question of Trust illustrates that it's never too late, or too soon, for forgiveness.

There must be somethig wrong with the new branch president.  Sunny Day hasn't had a church calling in twenty-one years, and now Jack "Mormon" Heath is asking her to be Relief Society president - telling her the Lord wants her for the calling.  Doesn't the  Lord know she is far from perfect?  It would take a miracle to make her worthy.  And right now that's just what is needed because a stranger's life desperately depends on Sunny's decision.
Meanwhile, Kelli Carson has tried to bury her deep feelings of guilt by living unquestioningly in a closed community.  Now she has been chosen to marry a man she can never love, and knows shw has to escape from the so-called Church of Faith - and take her friend Mary Rachel with her before the teenager is harmed again.  But where can they run?
At once engaging and suspensful, False Pretenses is a story where every action has an equal reaction.  Carole's vibrant characters and well-placed layered storytelling will have you looking for those extra minutes to read the next chapter.
